For woods such as Ipe, Mangaris, Teak, and Mahogany we recommend oil based penetrating sealers to protect and maintain. These oil finishes protect the wood from premature weathering and will magnify the beautiful grain of the wood while keeping the wood natural. Woods such as Redwood, Cedar, and Douglas Fir can be coated with oil based sealers and can also be coated with water based coatings that can be purchased in many different colors. These softer woods are able to accept semi-solid and solid deck stains if this is the aesthetic you desire.
